FPL Selections for Gameweek 7

Are these 5 players on your Fantasy Premier League shortlist ?

Our squad pushed further up the FPL rankings, after collecting 88 points in Gameweek 6 but can we maintain the momentum?

We’ve identified 5 players that deserve closer scrutiny ahead of GW7 – Son Heung-min, Adam Lallana, James Milner, Marcus Rashford and Daley Blind.

South Korean International Son Heung-min was on the score-sheet yet again as Spurs got their Champions League campaign up and running, continuing his devastating run of form.

However, a match-up against title favourites Manchester City and a growing injury list at White Hart Lane is sufficient for us to overlook Son this time.

3 goals and 3 assists from 6 matches is a tremendous return for Lallana and we couldn’t really put anyone off selecting him, while Milner has scored the joint-most penalties (3) this season and seems to be winning the battle for the left-back role at Liverpool, ahead of the much maligned Alberto Moreno.

Milner is one of those players that can be classed as being ‘out of position’, since he’s listed as a midfielder in the FPL player list. This needs to be factored in when assessing his merits.

Instead of going for the Liverpool duo, we have decided to draft in Manchester United’s Rashford and Blind for GW7, mainly due to their higher ‘team goals’ projection.

Only West Ham United have shipped more goals than the Potteries side this season. Stoke really seem to missing injured goalkeeper Jack Butland, so 40 year old Shay Given could be in for another torrid afternoon. Rashford is likely to start again, with Rooney again expected to be on the bench and we’re going to give the young forward the captain’s arm-band.

Getting Rooney off set-pieces was a change United desperately needed to make and Blind was back on corner-taking duty against champions Leicester City. He registered 2 assists, with Manchester United’s newly found aerial power very much to the fore.

It is worth noting that Blind only recorded 1 assist, from the 107 Premier League corners, he took last season but, at the same time, he didn’t have such imposing targets to search for either. He is becoming undroppable and Luke Shaw faces a tough task to win back that left-back berth.

United have won 7 of the 10 Premier League games that Blind has started at left-back, including an impressive 4 game run in 2015, where they defeated Spurs, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Manchester City.

We’ve shuffled the rest of our pack for GW7 but have kept Leighton Baines in, even though he is a major injury doubt.
