Gameweek 32 FPL Captaincy Rankings

Which player should you allocate the Fantasy Premier League armband to in GW32?

Harry Kane’s likely continued absence for Spurs opens the door for Zlatan Ibrahimović to assume the mantle of top-ranked armband contender in GW32. The 35 year old striker returned to the starting line-up against Everton, following his 3-match suspension and duly obliged, converting a stoppage time penalty, to give Manchester United a share of the spoils. He will surely fancy his chances of adding to his ever-growing tally against Sunderland on Sunday.

You might recall that we highlighted a statistic which was likely to spell the end of the Black Cats stay in the top flight – a mere 1 goal scored from set-pieces all season. Well, things have gone from bad to worse since then, with Sunderland failing to register a single goal of any description in their last 6 fixtures.

While United’s inability to turn their superiority on home soil into wins continues to be a concern, that is not the case on the road, with the Red Devils winning 8 of their 13 games. That sequence should be extended at the Stadium of Light on Sunday and Ibra is likely to be the central figure again.

It’s worth pointing out that Kane has returned to full training though and may have an outside chance of appearing from the bench.

Manchester City have the pick of the GW32 fixtures on paper, so we can expect plenty of fantasy football managers to be giving an in-form Sergio Agüero the captain’s armband this weekend. The Argentinian striker has scored in his last 3 league starts against strong opposition, in the shape of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea to take his total for the season to 15 but, significantly, he is still searching for his first assist of the campaign.

Spurs players are sure to be popular choices and Son Heung-min might appeal to anyone looking for an interesting differential. He played 90 minutes before being replaced at the Liberty Stadium and should be in line for another start against Watford. However, the amount of playing time he will be afforded does remain a concern and that is likely to put off a few of those managers who are thinking about a speculative punt.

The South Korean international can be a streaky player but a WhoScored rating of 7.52 in the 3-1 victory over the Swans highlights his potential and there does appear to be plenty more in the locker. He will also need to take advantage of any opportunity that comes is way, since Kane’s return is imminent.

Those are the leading contenders – who are you going to give the GW32 armband to?
