GW24 Captaincy Tips

What every Fantasy Premier League manager needs to know before selecting their GW24 Captain

Zlatan Ibrahimović failed to live up to his star billing on Wednesday evening, as he produced a somewhat underwhelming performance in Manchester United’s stalemate with Hull City. It was a frustrating night for the big Swede, who only managed to get 2 of his 4 shots at goal on target, although he was perhaps a touch unlucky not to pick an assist, after setting up Paul Pogba with a gilt-edged chance that the Frenchman spurned.

Manchester United face champions’ Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday and Ibrahimović again features highly in our GW24 ‘Captometer’ rankings. However, there are two other candidates that are expected to fare better.

Manchester City have the highest goal expectancy of all the teams in Gameweek 24 action so there is no surprise in seeing Sergio Agüero featuring so prominently. However, it is worth remembering that these projections look at a combination of each players’ goals and assists potential and that the City striker is still looking for his first assist of the 2016/17 English Premier League season. Having said that, he is expected to be restored to the starting line-up for the visit of Swansea City on Sunday and is sure to be a popular armband choice.

Spurs’ Harry Kane tops the GW24 rankings, though, despite a really below par performance against Sunderland on Tuesday evening that even prompted the England striker to complain about the Black Cats’ combative style.

Kane has 13 goals and 3 assists to his name this season and he will be looking to build on that on Saturday when Middlesbrough visit White Hart Lane.

Everton’s Romelu Lukaka and Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe have failed to score in their last two starts but both players make a certain amount of appeal too.

Are you going to give the armband to Harry Kane in GW24?
