Bargain

A bargain means a player is priced much lower than their recent fantasy performances deserve.

Due to the fact that the majority fantasy football sites do not change their prices much during the season – and if they do at all then the amendments tend to only be small – finding bargains is one of the best ways to succeed when playing daily fantasy football games.

Bargains are not easy to find, as once a player has started to regularly put in high quality performance many other fantasy players will also be alerted to their undervalued status.

A couple of good examples of excellent fantasy football bargains from recent history are Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez of Leicester City.

With the Foxes having been involved in a relegation battle for much of the 2013-14 Premier League season, few people could have predicted the difference in the club for the following campaign after manager Nigel Pearson had been replaced by Claudio Ranieri.

While Mahrez and Vardy had shown flashes of their quality, it was at the start of the 2014-15 Premier League year that they really shot to the forefront, with their regular goals and assists making Leicester the surprise package of the season.

Mahrez and Vardy were priced very low at the start of the season as they were not expected to be among the best performing players, but as their performances continued to stand out their bargain status quickly became assured.

Having a good mix of bargains and more expensive star players is a must for a well-balanced daily fantasy football team and a well-chosen bargain that few other fantasy managers have spotted often makes the difference between winning big money contests and missing out on cash prizes.

The term breakout is also often used to refer to players like Mahrez and Vardy who defy their low price tags by scoring big points on daily fantasy football games.
