Will Alexis do his talking on the pitch to justify his position as the leading GW36 armband candidate?

On Friday, Manchester City are set to reveal the results of a scan Sergio Agüero underwent on a possible adducter tear and it could have serious implications for fantasy football managers for the remainder of the 2016/17 English Premier League campaign. If the Argentinian striker is ruled out for an indefinite period, Gabriel Jesus is likely to get the opportunity to lead the Citizens’ attack.

Although there are only a limited number of Premier League games to go off, the young Brazilian’s fantasy potential is there for all to see and it’s clear that Pep Guardiola sees him as an extremely special talent.

City are expected to score heavily, when they host Crystal Palace at the Etihad on Saturday, so Jesus is sure to feature among the most popular captains in GW36, along with the likes of Harry Kane, Diego Costa, Kevin de Bruyne, Eden Hazard and Jamie Vardy, who all feature prominently in the latest armband rankings.

However, Arsenal and Southampton have a double gameweek, so it’s players from these sides that warrant special attention, with Alexis Sánchez being the standout candidate. The Gunners face Manchester United at the Emirates on Sunday before a trip to St Mary’s in the week.

Sánchez, who continues to be linked with a host of big clubs, scored twice in the corresponding fixture last season but he has failed to score in his 4 other Premier League outings against United.

The Chilean international has come in for fierce criticism as well this week, following an incident with Christian Fuchs during Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Leicester City, with former Manchester United legend ‘Ooh Ahh’ Paul McGrath, labeling him as pathetic for his reaction and subsequent social media comments according to an article in the Sunday World.

Despite putting one foot in the Europa League final, United manager José Mourinho is sure to single out the Arsenal ace for some special attention on Sunday, as he looks to preserve his side’s unbeaten league run, which now stretches to 25 games.

Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Manolo Gabbiadini are also set to feature twice in Matchweek 36 but playing minutes remain a concern for all 3, so Mesut Özil may prove to be the pick of the other double gameweek players.

Goals are expected in GW36 but who will you choose as your captain?
