David de Gea wins Man Utd Player of the Year Award for third successive season

David de Gea was said to be ‘distraught’ after a late fax meant that his dream move to Real Madrid would not go through. There was insufficient time to submit the relevant paperwork and both clubs were quick to apportion blame. The goalkeeper had been Manchester United’s best player in each of the previous two seasons, so questions were raised as to what sort of mental state the Spanish shot-stopper would be in, once he was reinstalled as the Red Devils first choice keeper by Louis van Gaal.

De Gea has answered all the doubters in no uncertain term, producing a catalogue of displays that had to be witnessed to be believed. His stop from Romelu Lukaku’s penalty in the FA Cup semi-final was arguably the icing on the cake and if United go on to lift the Cup it might just give Louis van Gaal a stay of execution.

Oulala have analysed the statistics for all players from each Premier League side and have come up with their own list of best performers. De Gea’s inclusion was probably a formality and he duly picked up his third straight Manchester United Player of the Year Award earlier this week.

How long de Gea remains at Old Trafford is anybody’s guess, but the way in which he has conducted himself this season is a credit to his professionalism.

Statistics can sometimes be deceiving but that is clearly not the case with the Spanish International. Two other goalkeepers do feature as well, the unfortunate Jack Butland, who fractured an ankle that has ruled him out of the upcoming Euro 2016 finals and the current England number one Joe Hart.

Do you agree with the highlighted players at each of the other Premier League clubs?
