Reds Wary Of Hammer Blow

Huge weekend ahead for Liverpool in race for a ‘Top 4’ finish

Liverpool have only qualified for the Champions League once in the last 6 seasons but back to back wins from Arsenal and the Reds’ inability to see off Southampton at Anfield last weekend means that they are now in jeopardy of missing out yet again.

Arsenal, who have a game in hand, will get the chance to close the gap on the Merseysiders to just 1 point, when they face Stoke City on Saturday, so Liverpool will not want to go the same way as Tottenham Hotspur when they visit the London Stadium. Spurs’ title hopes were all but vanquished, when they came unstuck against a spirited West Ham display and the Hammers will surely want to give their fans something to cheer about in their final home game on Sunday.

J├╝rgen Klopp knows that his side need to ensure Champions League qualification, not only to help attract new players that will help them to challenge on European and domestic fronts but perhaps even more importantly for the fans, to give them a better chance of finally ending an unenviable record that even has it’s own dedicated resource.

On the plus side for Klopp, the latest English Premier League goal projections do indicate that his team will get the job done.

Chelsea will expect to wrap the title up on Friday, when they travel to the Hawthorns to take on West Bromwich Albion. Antonio Conte’s men took an early stranglehold on the title race and they have not shown any signs of relinquishing it since, so wrapping things up should be a formality.

It’s a huge weekend for both Hull City and Swansea City as they look to maintain their top flight status. They travel to Crystal Palace and Sunderland respectively and fans of both clubs are sure to have one eye on what is happening at the other venue.

Despite failing to score in his last 3 starts, Romelu Lukaku still has a good grip on the race for the Golden Boot. Everton get the GW37 action under way, when they entertain Watford on Friday and this looks like a good opportunity for the Belgium international to extend his lead at the top of the scoring rankings, judging by the latest English Premier League odds.

Lukaku currently leads Harry Kane by 3 goals, although the latter has played one game less.

More twists and turns are anticipated as the Premier League campaign winds down but will both Merseyside clubs have something to shout about this weekend?
