The Short Slate

FA Cup quarter-finals limit options for Fantasy Premier League managers

Fantasy Premier League managers have a reduced pool of players to focus on this weekend, with just 4 matches scheduled to take place due to a fixture clash with the quarter-finals of the 2016/17 FA Cup.

Hull City are 4 points adrift of safety but with neither Sunderland or Middlesbrough, the other 2 sides in the drop zone, in Gameweek 28 action, the Tigers will be looking to make the most of the opportunity, when they entertain Swansea City at the KCOM Stadium.

There isn’t too much to choose between the sides judging by the latest goal expectancies but it is Hull’s injury list that will be troubling manager Marco Silva the most. No club in the top flight currently has as many players sidelined through injury, with key centre-back pairing Michael Dawson and Curtis Davies amongst them.

Saturday’s other 2 games see Everton hosting West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park and Bournemouth welcoming West Ham United to the Vitality Stadium.

Despite picking up a point at Old Trafford, the Cherries are in a miserable run of form that has seen them concede 15 goals and collect just one other point in their last 6 matches. Goals are expected in this one and Bournemouth will be hoping to claim all 3 points to help stave of the threat of getting sucked into the relegation scrap.

Burnley’s shock 4th round FA Cup defeat to Lincoln City allows them to fulfil a Premier League fixture that was rearranged form earlier in the season, due to completion works on the Anfield Main Stand expansion. The home and away games with Liverpool were reversed and even though the Clarets ran out 2-0 winners at Turf Moor, the latest Premier League match betting odds indicate that Sunday’s visitors will have a job on their hands, if they are to add to the 2 points that they have amassed from all their ‘road’ games to date.

Liverpool have scored more Premier League goals (58)  than any other side this season, so there will be a temptation to pack GW28 fantasy teams with a combination of players from their fearsome front 4 of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mané and Adam Lallana.

Which teams will make the most of this weekend’s reduced slate?
